Alfalfa Range
Dengie’s range of Alfa-A fibre feeds is based on chopped alfalfa fibre and has been developed to meet the nutritional requirements of working horses and ponies or for promoting improved condition or weight gain.
Alfalfa provides the quality protein essential for improving top line, muscle condition and repair. Naturally low in sugar and starch, independent research has shown that alfalfa can aid digestive health by acting as a natural buffer. Research shows that feeding alfalfa also improves hoof quality, due to its abundant levels of calcium and other naturally occurring vitamins and minerals which are easier for the horse to absorb and utilise.
Hi Fi Range
Carefully selecting blends of fibres that are low in energy and complement our nutrient-rich alfalfa. Our team have produced a range of hi-fi feed that is ideal for horses and ponies that require fewer calories. Our Hi-Fi range is tailored specifically for the following types of horses and scenarios:
- Good doers –horses or ponies that can maintain a healthy weight with ease
- Horses or ponies that are in light work (hacking/schooling 3 times a week) or are at rest (retired or box rest)
- Horses and ponies that require low-calorie diets
All of the products in our hi-fi feed range are classed as ‘straight feeds’. This means that they provide horse owners with a range of flexible feeding options. With ‘straight feeds’ you are able to feed your horse or pony as much or as little of our hi-fi feeds according to their workload or body condition. All you need to do is simply add a feed balancer or supplement to their ration to ensure that their diet is nutritionally balanced and contains all the required vitamins, minerals and nutrients that they need.
The Dengie Hi-Fi feed range can also be fed as a complete or as partial hay/haylage replacer. This is ideal for when the quality of forage is poor, for when less calories are required or if there is a lack of forage supply due to restricted grazing.
Grass Range
At Dengie, we select the finest grasses and ingredients from local suppliers for our grass chop and pelleted feeds.
By using 100% natural ingredients, that are free from artificial preservatives, flavours and additives we offer a range of grass feeds for horses and ponies that are high in fibre and packed full of naturally occurring vitamins and minerals, which are essential for the general health and well-being of your horse or pony.
Naturally sweet in flavour, our grass chaff range is able to tempt even the fussiest of horses and ponies without the inclusion of molasses.
Our range of Grass Feed for horses are ideal to feed when the supply and quality of natural grazing declines due to poor weather conditions. The naturally soft texture of the grass chaff makes these horse feeds great alternatives for horses and ponies that struggle to chew longer length forage due to old age, poor dentition or specific dental issues such as diastemas.
All the chopped grass feeds in our horse feed grass range are ideal as a supplement or a replacement for hay and/or forage to supply additional calories to help your horse or pony to gain/maintain weight and condition.
